When approaches 16R and 34L at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International airport were in need of a makeover, Pollite, working closely with Avionics Limited, were called on to manufacture and deliver a set of over 150 fully frangible masts ranging from 0.5 to 6m, which were installed successfully in March 2014.
A number of recent, high profile incidents highlight the importance of frangibility for airfield structures in the immediate area surrounding the runway and threshold.
Working closely with the FAA and ICAO, Pollite are committed to runway safety, with continuous improvement and innovative designs that will ultimately help to prevent serious damage, should an aircraft collide with an airfield structure.
