Pollite selected for major international developments

As Pollite continue to grow, we have been winning work throughout the world; from projects on small regional airfields, to full approaches at some of the world's biggest international airports.

When approaches 16R and 34L at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International airport were in need of a makeover, Pollite, working closely with Avionics Limited, were called on to manufacture and deliver a set of over 150 fully frangible masts ranging from 0.5 to 6m, which were installed successfully in March 2014.

ICAO Safety Report 2014

Air travel and Aircraft Safety has certainly been in the spotlight this year, with a number of high profile incidents making the headlines, however, a new ICAO report (Safety, 2014) highlights the importance of frangible structures around airfields. Runway Safety related incidents topped the list of the three high-risk occurrence categories in 2013.

Published figures show that runway safety related accidents accounted for the majority of all accidents during 2013 (62%) but only 6% of recorded fatalities. These figures only help to underline the critical job that frangibility plays in minimising the impact of runway related accidents.

Joint Airfield Frangible Study Group

Pollite masts continue to be a world leader and still one of only three companies worldwide to produce masts which are both ICAO and FAA compliant.

Pollite have been selected to play a critical role in the Joint Airfield Frangibility Study Group (JAFSG). With members from the ICAO, the FAA, and a number of Airfield Lighting Manufacturers, we will be working closely together to look into improving the frangibility of obstructions and the resulting safety of the airfield.

Meet us at Inter-Airport China & South East Asia

For the first time, Pollite will have a presence at Inter-Airport China (October 15-17th 2014), and will be exhibiting at Inter-Airport South East Asia in Singapore (January 21st -23rd) 2015.

During a very exciting growth period for Pollite, Managing Director Adrian Harrison stated that-

“Following our success at Inter Airport Europe, and a recent, sharp increase in projects in the area, the decision to get involved with the China and South East Asia equivalents was an easy one. We are very much looking forward to meeting new people and cementing Pollite as a true global brand, and market leader in Frangible Airfield Technology.”

ICAO Compliant Windsocks

Pollite windsock masts have been designed to fully comply with the ICAO Annex 14 Vol 1 wind direction indicator requirements and the most recent frangibility stipulations detailed in ICAO Aerodrome Design Manual Part 6.

In addition, Pollite provide windsock masts that comply with the CAA CAP 168 and the FAA's AC 150/5345-27D type L806 and L807 design criteria. All Pollite Windsock masts come with a unique hinged foot, which allows for easier raising and lowering of the mast for servicing the lighting or windsock.
