When every second counts: Greater safety and responsiveness with Allison fully automatic transmissions, including the new M6620

Allison Transmission to present wide range of transmissions at Interschutz (June 7th – 12th 2010; Hall 2, Booth C40) including new M6620 transmission, a Mercedes-Benz Atego fire fighting vehicle and dedicated transmission features.

Leipzig, Germany – Allison Transmission is a global leading supplier of fully automatic transmissions for fire and emergency vehicles. Vehicle manufacturers worldwide including European OEMs: Daimler, Renault, Iveco, DAF, Scania, MAN and Volvo offer Allison automatics for a variety of fire and emergency applications such as airfield crash trucks, ladder and tanker units, ambulances and other equipment. Serving urban, off-road and airfield environments, Allison transmissions meet the highest performance, reliability and safety standards in the emergency sector, requiring less maintenance and providing the most flexible interface for the installation of equipment.

Visitors to the Interschutz show are invited to see the latest model from Allison’s 6000 Series family of transmissions – the M6620 – which is used in airfield crash trucks. The new M6620 builds on the proven rock solid performance, reliability and durability of the existing M6610 model. Also on display is a Mercedes-Benz fire-fighting vehicle (HLF 20/16) built on a 14 tonne Atego chassis with bodywork from Iveco Magirus. The truck is on loan from Munich fire brigade which has recently ordered 58 new vehicles with the Allison 3000PR transmission. The Allison 3000 Series features optional top-mount power take-off (PTO) provision which allows simplified equipment installation and maximum auxiliary power for pumper trucks while operating on the move or when stationary. The Allison stand also focuses on the 4000 Series transmission. Thanks to its ratio coverage and power-shifting, the six or seven speed transmission ensures unrivalled acceleration performance even under exceptional load condition and allows precise manoeuvring at very low vehicle speed in emergency situations.

Visitors to Interschutz can see Allison products on various other stands too. For example, Iveco Magirus is exhibiting a new Dragon 8X8 with twin power-pack equipped with two Allison 4700R transmissions (Hall 4, Booth B04). Mercedes-Benz will exhibit an Atego 1629AF and an Axor 1833L each with a 3000 Series Allison transmission (Hall 2, Booth A01).
