Sliedrecht, September 2010 – Allison Transmission, the premier global provider of commercial duty automatic transmissions and hybrid propulsion systems, will present a complete spectrum of innovative transmission technology for optimising overall vehicle efficiency at this year’s IAA. On the Allison stand (outdoor area south, booth E54), a focused truck area will include interactive presentations as well as displays of the 2000, 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions. A dedicated bus area will contain the Torqmatic® T280R, as well as the EV 50 hybrid propulsion module. In front of the Allison stand, visitors will have the opportunity to view the new Mercedes-Benz Econic NGT CNG tractor with Allison 3500R. Additionally, a Mercedes-Benz Zetros with Allison 3000SP, a loading platform and a crane will be displayed just opposite the Allison stand (outdoor area south, booth H07).
 
Every Allison transmission ensures true full power shifts and efficient use of engine power to move the vehicle. This advantage leads to greater fleet productivity and more economical operation. New fuel-saving features to be highlighted include Super Economy Shift Schedule (SESS), Load Based Shift Scheduling (LBSS), and Vehicle Acceleration Control (VAC). Allison’s fully automatic transmissions already provide benefits including ease of use, improved performance and productivity. The combination of powershifting technology, electronic control of shift points and early engagement of the torque converter lock-up enable optimum use of engine horsepower and torque to reduce fuel consumption.
 
With increased global demand for hybrid and natural gas vehicles, Allison supplies a compelling solution for reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions. Similarly Allison transmissions make a great contribution to enable alternative fuel, CNG technology by boosting startability when combined with engines with a lower torque profile. This is particularly relevant in bus, refuse and distribution applications. The Allison hybrid system is now in operation around the world in over 3,500 buses and coaches which have accumulated over 400 million kilometres of reliable and low emission service. These hybrid buses are operating in over 160 cities worldwide and have accumulated savings of over 50 million litres of fuel and 130,000 metric tons of CO2.
