LFV’s subsidiary LFV Aviation Consulting has together with BAE-system, Indra and Altran Praxis made it through to the final phase of the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Project Marshall requirement. The aim of the project is to streamline military air traffic services in the UK and at bases overseas.

Project Marshall, which will run over two decades, aims for an increased integration of air traffic services and the streamlining of both tower and terminal services. The project includes all of the UK domestic and foreign bases.

The consortium, led by BAE Systems, will secure the development of cost-efficient solutions for the UK MoD. This will contribute to a friction-free transition period from the existing to the future system. There will be a systematic replacement of all out-dated equipment using instead cutting-edge solutions which pave the way for civil-military ATS integration. This will contribute to the streamlining of UK military air traffic services, including communications, surveillance and navigation systems at British bases in the UK and abroad. “We have received acknowledgement for the work we have done in streamlining our operations here in Sweden over the past few years,” says Lasse Håkansson, MD for LFV Aviation Consulting. “This is a promising and exciting development.”

In a statement two weeks ago, LFV was recognised as a European leader regarding the running of operative air traffic control services in a cost-efficient way. LFV also received recognition as a global leader regarding civil-military integration. The project is now in the preliminary phase in which the three selected consortia produce their own business models of how the streamlining of the UK MoD will be implemented.
