GDPR and Email Marketing: An Opportunity for Growth

The EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018, yet despite an assurance of rigorous enforcement and fines of up to 4% of global turnover for non-compliance, research carried out by Dell in October 2016 showed a staggering 97% of companies have no plan in place to prepare for the new laws with only 9% expecting to be ready in time.

GDPR affects anyone controlling or processing personal data pertaining to EU citizens. UK businesses still need to comply, even in light of Brexit, yet according to the 2016 Email Marketing Census,53% of companies have not yet adjusted their current activities.

That’s a significant number of businesses with their heads buried in the sand.
