Global Cargo and Aircraft Ground Handling

Zurich, 8 March 2010 – Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground handling services to the aviation community, has appointed Andreas Keller as its new Vice President and head of its Aviation Security business segment. He assumes his new duties on 15 March. Keller succeeds Stefan Roschi, who is leaving Swissport to take on a new professional challenge.

Andreas Keller (35) is currently General Manager of Checkport Switzerland, a Swissport subsidiary which employs some 180 personnel at its stations in Zurich, Basel and Geneva. With many years in the business, Keller is intimately familiar with the aviation security sector.

Swissport is delighted to have secured his services, which will ensure that the requisite expertise and professionalism are maintained at this vital business unit. In his new capacity, Keller will be responsible for all product and business development activities in the aviation security field throughout Swissport’s global operating network. He will report directly to Philipp Joeinig, Executive Vice President and Head of Business Development & Group Services at Swissport International.

Swissport currently offers its aviation security services at 29 destinations in 12 countries. The sector is likely to grow further in importance in the years ahead, as security requirements increase for travellers, baggage, cargo and aircraft alike. Swissport intends to pursue its own growth within this business segment, and to continue to optimise the corresponding processes together with its airline partners. 

For the present, Andreas Keller will continue to serve as General Manager of Checkport Switzerland alongside his new duties. Swissport International wishes him every success and satisfaction in his challenging new capacity.
