Green Airports Recognition 2019 – ACI Asia-Pacific Results Announced

Company A-ICE
Date 07.05.2019

Green Airports Recognition 2019 looks at the achievements of airports in projects of environmental interest and performance. Established by ACI Asia-Pacific with the support of its regional environmental committee to help minimise the impact of the aviation industry on the global environment and to publicly recognise the member airports who have made significant contribution in their environmental projects.

ACI Asia-Pacific has now released the results for this year’s theme – Green Airport Infrastructure. There were 19 submissions this year, which represents 17% of the region’s flight passenger traffic. There are three categories defined by passenger numbers, and three recognitions per category as follows:

Less than 10 million passengers per year

Platinum – Adelaide Airport

Gold – Al Bateen Executive Airport

Silver – Nadi International Airport

Nadi International Airport also became the first airport to attain Level 1 Airports Carbon Accreditation – a separate ACI programme that recognizes efforts to reduce CO2 emissions.

10 – 45 million passengers per year

Platinum – Taoyuan International Airport

Gold – Sydney Airport

Silver – Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

Over 45 million passengers per year

Platinum – Indira Gandhi International Airport

Gold – Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport

Silver – Hong Kong International Airport

The winning airports demonstrated a continual commitment to improving environmental performance and green practices. Industry experts welcome the awards, particularly within this period of global climate change awareness.
