Ground Run-Up Enclosures, Blast Deflectors, Acoustic Barriers and Cabins

IAC Aviation Jet Engine Blast Barriers reduce the damaging and dangerous effects of aircraft engine blast by means of deviation and reduction of the high velocity of gases, air and heat.

They are in use at airports around the world protecting roadways, pathways, airport and neighbouring buildings, perimeters and adjacent aircraft areas. They are even used as dual function security fencing.

Standard Barrier

IAC’s standard Jet Engine Blast Barrier – or Wash Screen – is painted in the approved aeronautical colours of red and white, in accordance with the requirements of the International CAA guidelines.

Constructed of galvanised steel for long life, the face of this 3m high blast deflector is inclined at 30 degrees. Barriers can be either fixed directly to the ground or mounted onto concrete blocks which can be moved into position by forklift. There is a certain amount of visibility through the barrier which is an added advantage. Of modular construction, the Barrier can be re-used, relocated and easily added to.

IAC’s Barrier design has been fully tested in the wind tunnel at INTA aerodynamics laboratory in Torrejon, Madrid.

Able to operate effectively in wind speeds of up to 130kph, the special grilles divert the jet blast and spreading it upward at an angle of between 60 and 80 degrees. This upward deviation of the blast entrains additional slow-moving air in the upper region of the blast flow, which both cools and decelerates the jet blast.

Lighting

IAC can also supply CAA-approved red warning lights visible for 360 degrees around, and 270 degrees upwards and also the latest red LEDs. These solid state lamps are long life and maintenance free; they function in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees C to +55 degrees C and have IP65 protection.

Clients

IAC’s Jet Engine Blast Barriers are in use in many airports around Europe including London’s Heathrow, and in Spain at Barajas Airport, Madrid; Coruna airport; and Valencia, Zaragoza, Barcelona and Malaga airports.
