Bliss-Fox tow tractors set to pull a crowd in Munich

Thursday, 13 August 2009
Highly regarded Australian-based ground-handling equipment specialist, Bliss-Fox, is using the occasion of inter airport Europe 2009 to launch its powerful new F1-500 series aircraft tow tractor to the European market.

Bliss-Fox will have two tractors on show at the Munich Trade Fair Centre – a 54-tonne version of the new F1-500, and a 10-tonne version of its workhorse F1-80 tractor.

The F1-500 boasts up to 450kW (600 hp) of engine power, as well as a class-leading 2500 Nm 1850 ft/lbs) of torque and draw bar pull capacity of up to 59,500 kg (130,900 lbs) for the 70 tonne version.

The F1-500 is available in two basic con?gurations – 54-tonne (A340 and B747 capable) and 70- tonne (A380 capable). The 54-tonne version on show at inter airport Europe is designed so it can be easily and quickly upgraded to 70 tonnes through some simple changes, including the addition of drop-in ballast.

A feature of the F1-500 – indeed, all Bliss-Fox tractors – is its ergonomics. The modernised cabin is designed for driver comfort and ease of control, with a particular emphasis on good line-of-site. Improvements include the addition of full width doors for improved access and an LCD screen displaying instrumentation and tractor diagnostics.

The other Bliss-Fox tractor on show in Munich is the F1-80, designed for modern, narrow-bodied aircraft, capable of towing up to 85 tonnes MTOW (B737-900ER). The unique design associated with this tractor provides for the inclusion of optional extras such as an enclosed cabin and air-conditioning.

Bliss-Fox has been in the business of building and selling aircraft tow tractors for over 40 years, and in that time has developed a well earned reputation for quality and reliability across Australasia and Asia.

In recent years this reputation has spread into Europe and the Middle East, where the company isplanning to extend its sales success.

"We're particularly delighted to be bringing our newest tractor, the F1-500, to Europe. This is an important opportunity for us to show our existing and prospective customers our world class tractor capability," says Bliss-Fox General Manager, Bryn Jones.

The Bliss-Fox stand is C40 in the Outdoor Area. Both technical and sales representatives will be on hand to meet visitors and answer any questions about the company's products and global technical support capabilities.
