Ground to Air Communication Radios

Company Jotron AS
Date 26.06.2013

Jotron AS designs and manufactures high quality communication products and systems for land, sea and air applications. This year there has been an upsurge in the demand of Jotron’s products that is almost 50% higher than that of the same period last year.

After having gone through a year marked by a global downward trend in the maritime markets and along with a restructuring of the Jotron group – the company now has an optimistic view of the future.

"The global maritime markets are still slow compared to the peak years 2007 and 2008, but after last year’s restructuring, Jotron has strengthen its competitiveness,” says Magnus Vold, Managing Director of Jotron AS. «Jotron is known as a high quality supplier, but we also need to have competitive prices. The measures Jotron introduced in 2012 were directed at handling this in a better way – and the demand so far this year indicates that we are on the right track.”

During 2012, Jotron went through a series of demanding changes concerning the merger of the Jotron group’s three Norwegian companies, restructuring and relocation to a new building at Skoppum where most of the production and projects for the company’s Maritime and Energy Division take place.

The company’s top management and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Coastal Communications Division are still located in Larvik. The division grew by almost 20 % in the civil aviation sector in 2012. Last year’s acquisition of the ATC recording supplier Ricochet, strengthens this picture even further in 2013.

Jotron has so far this year signed a large number of important contracts. The company claims that the foundations for dealing with growth now have been laid and aims at employing more people in Norway. If everything goes according to the plan, Jotron will also extend its production in Lithuania to make way for future growth and ensure success.

“This year’s growth is to a great extent due to the activities in the ATC and energy sectors, but the maritime business is also growing compared to 2012,” Vold continues. – These three segments will in the future be equal contributors to a strong Jotron.
