From computer to POI and back

The distribution, extension and switching of computer signals has always been an area of expertise of the Guntermann & Drunck GmbH. The German manufacturer looks back on almost 25 years of experience in developing and manufacturing signal distributions and extensions. Among products for the airtraffic control, G&D’s portfolio contains solutions for the professional AV sector. The products enable the user to transmit audio-visual content from the computer to the Point of Interest without the necessity of a network.

Guntermann & Drunck GmbH offers the following four competence sectors for the AV market:
–    signal distribution
–    signal switching
–    signal distribution + switching
–    signal extension.

Each sector provides different product variants as well as possible combinations. Since the products operate independently of a network, no further computers other than the source computer are required. The transmission is carried out over existing cable infrastructur. The displays do not have to be network compatible either. The products can be flexibly scaled and expanded and are insusceptible to network failures.
 
Signal distribution

At Guntermann & Drunck, signal distribution comprises products to distribute video and audio-video.
The video product line makes possible to extend the computer’s analog (VGA) or digital (DVI) video signals and, at the same time, distribute them to several displays

The “DiSign“ audio-video distribution line consists of a product system with three elements: a distributor, a computer module and up to eight receivers. A computer’s advertising message can be distributed to up to eight displays at a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1440 @ 75 Hz. Thereby, the system automatically carries out the image tuning.

Signal switching

The signal switching sector enables the user to switch audio and video signals. Analog as well as digital signals can be processed. In addition, the “DVIMUX” product line of Guntermann & Drunck GmbH also switches keyboard, mouse and USB 2.0 signals.

Signal extension

Generally, one can differentiate between the two sectors of single-signal and multi-signal extension. True to its name, each single-signal extender only switches one signal from the computer to the display unit whereas the multi-signal extenders offer a broad spectrum of transmittable signals.

Thanks to the modular system of the multi-signal extenders, the customer can order the devices according to his demands. Based on the existing cable medium, the user selects the signals he wants to extend among the signals keyboard, video, mouse, RS232, audio und USB. Then, G&D provide him with the product that fits his requirements. Therefore, standard products can be flexibly adjusted to the customer’s demands without a special solution. The video sector enables multi-channel transmission.

Signal distribution + switching

With the “CATCenter NEO16“, Guntermann & Drunck combine the sectors signal distribution and signal switching. CATCenter NEO8 and NEO16 are able to embed VGA as well as DVI on the computer side. The matrix switch distributes the content of up to 64 computers to up to 8 or 16 display units whereas the display units are enabled to switch between the each source. The display units display resolutions up to 1920 x 1440 @ 75 Hz up to a distance of 300 metres. The CATCenter automatically sets the image tuning for each distance without the user’s assistance. Since the CATCenter is network compatible, it can also be operated over IP. 

Applications

Guntermann & Drunck provides the fitting solutions for the various requirements of application areas such as Public Transport, Retail, Control  Stations and Event Technology. The easiest solution is to distribute audio and video signals via existing cable media.
