Vilnius Airport (Vilniaus oro uostas) is the international airport of Lithuania. Located 5.9 km south of the city, it is the largest of three commercial airports in Lithuania (by passenger traffic).
The airport is managed by state-owned enterprise Lithuanian Airports under the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
HAURATON has supplied linear drainage systems for a number of projects at the airport, both landside and airside. In 2011 RECYFIX HICAP F Slot Channel (730 metres) was installed during the reconstruction and expansion of airside pavement areas at the airport.
The client found the RECYFIX HICAP linear drainage system to be far more effective compared with the previous point-drainage design, allowing pavement areas to be operational for longer and less de-icing fluid required during winter months as the system intercepted surface water more quickly and efficiently.
The requirement for maintenance was also reduced due to the self-cleansing design of the system.
