The Zurich Airport has set a new record for passengers this summer with almost 100,000 travellers on one day.
The airport’s Steering Centre is the quasi “brain” of the airport, monitoring and coordinating processes, planning, administering and dispatching resources, analysing passenger flows, etc. The Centre is powered by WEY and has appeared in the Tages Anzeiger, one of Zurich’s largest daily newspapers and news portals. The report (German) includes a short video (1 minute, 50 seconds) and an interview with the Duty Manager of Airport Steering.
Operators from five different companies and the police coordinate a host of processes from the Steering Centre, including over 250 surveillance cameras. Access to the systems and sources are controlled with a WEY multifunctional keyboard, as clearly seen in the video.
The technology of WEY can also be found in many other areas in the Zurich Airport: the Air Traffic Control Tower, the Protocol Room for the supervision of air traffic activities, MeteoSwiss’s airport weather centre, the Baggage Screening and Handling Room, and SR Technics’ Maintenance Operations Centre.
