KVM manufacturer Guntermann & Drunck GmbH will be presenting its extensive portfolio of KVM solutions for ANSPs at the World ATM Congress in Madrid, 26 – 28 October 2021, at booth 433, where they will also provide in-depth expertise to individual projects of customers and partners. After more than 1.5 years without attending any trade shows due to the pandemic, the manufacturer is looking forward to once again be able to offer personal on-site consulting.

KVM systems have a well-established place in the IT infrastructures of ATC control room applications. Whether tower, remote tower or air traffic control center – KVM equipment enables flexible IT access, comprehensive redundancy concepts, fail-safety and cyber security. It extends and switches computer signals thus allowing the remote operation of computers without any latency and at best video quality. The computers can still be accessed in real-time from control rooms, air traffic control centers or remote towers. Today, it’s hard to imagine mission-critical sectors such as airspace surveillance without KVM. Here, G&D systems optimise the IT infrastructure and create ideal working conditions for both Air Traffic Controllers and technicians. KVM also covers an aspect that’s especially relevant at times like these: It enables the physical separation of teams, but facilitates the collaboration between individual team members while also supporting multiple-shift models.

On the product side, G&D has plenty to show at WATM Congress. In Madrid, the manufacturer will exhibit the broadest, combinable and compatible KVM product portfolio at the market, including classic KVM systems and systems for KVM-over-IP™. Thanks to the network connection and the possibility of using standard network components, KVM-over-IP makes the entire application even more user-friendly and flexible.

At World ATM Congress, G&D will also present a true milestone. With the VisionXS series, the company presents an extender product line with 10G data transfer technology for an even better user experience and resolutions of up to 4K. Smaller, more compact, more powerful – VisionXS combines a wide range of functions in the smallest possible housing. The new VisionXS is much smaller and saves more space than any comparable devices. And despite its size, it comes with even better performance and video quality.

G&D launches new VisionXS product series.

Opting for the classic choice

Thanks to many years of working closely with air traffic controls around the world, the portfolio of the German manufacturer includes numerous classic KVM products supporting 4K resolutions and specially tailored to the requirements of ANSPs. As a high-performance KVM switch, the DP1.2-MUX3-ATC lets ATCOs operate up to three computers from one console (e.g. primary, redundancy and fallback system). With the newly developed instant switching technology, the system enables extremely fast switching, thus avoiding short interruptions of the picture that otherwise occur when switching to a redundant system.

The manufacturer also meets the demand for uncompressed KVM systems. The powerful KVM extender DP1.2-VisionXG extends computer signals via optical fibres at a distance of up to 10,000 m and provides uncompressed, loss-free and latency-free data transfer – pixel by pixel for best hand-eye coordination. The dedicated transmission via optical fibres offers sufficient bandwidth for an uncompressed and pixel-perfect transmission of 4K and 8K videos at 60Hz refresh rate. Even high-resolution 8K applications are displayed via four video channels – without any loss or latency. Thanks to the source synchronicity of the video channels, even highest video resolutions can be extended over long distances.

Optimally equipped for multi-viewing concepts
With its KVM systems, G&D also supports the trend towards multi-viewing consoles in ATC control rooms. Therefore, the company will be presenting a multi-viewing console at WATM that facilitates the work of controllers. Instead of using multiple screens to keep track of all processes, the concept follows the approach of displaying everything on a single large monitor giving controllers integrated and flexible access to all the data they need. Modified arrangements of operating processes also significantly improve workplace ergonomics. Displaying multiple computer sources in real time on one large monitor, and thus providing latency-free operation of multiple computers from a single console, facilitates work in the tower or in ATC rooms.

The company offers in-depth expertise in building KVM infrastructures for mission-critical applications. At World ATM Congress from 26 – 28 October 2021, interested ANSPs and integrators will be able to get personal advice on their individual IT solutions at booth 433.
