The main role consisted in controlling the input and output of the system according to the load forecast, the flights schedule and the airline companies. In specific:
- To develop and apply the Standard Operating Procedures for the BHS.
- To ensure manufacturer’s compliance to the Defect Liability Period terms and conditions.
- To identify bottlenecks and possible points of failure during the start up period.
- To organize and control large-scale baggage handling system trials.
- To assist in the tender preparation for the BHS Operations & Maintenance contract and define the required Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.
- To communicate with the Airport’s General Manager, the Airline Companies, the Security Screening Operator (Police) and the Ground Handling Services.
- To act as a link between the different departments of the airport to assure the proper and accurate information flow related to our sector of responsibility.
- To set up and control the departmental budget.
- To advice on all critical spare parts that should be available on site.
- To set up in cooperation with the contractor a contingency plan for emergency cases or peak seasons.To follow up and respect all applicable laws and regulations.
- To apply continuous improvement processes regarding the Operation and Maintenance of BHS.
- To instruct and supervise the Service Provider.
