Line Marking/Rubber Removal & Surface Preparation/Runway Grooving/Joint Sealing

Company Roadgrip Ltd
Date 23.12.2013

The UK Roadgrip Runways Team have begun the Nov/Dec 2013 project with London City Airport to improve friction and safety on the airport’s runway.

Due to a build up of paint in the grooves on the runway from years of repeated paint applications, the runway is beginning to show signs of friction problems in bad weather.

Using the leading Trackjet system, we’ll be removing all paint from the runway using the 42000 PSi machine before we reapply an ultra-thin high-friction paint to the cleaned and prepared surface.

Being a busy UK airport, in winter, this job brings operational challenges our team are all too familiar with.  With bad weather against us, our team will be working at nights and weekends only, so as not to disrupt flight schedules, ensuring the runway is ready to use by 6 am every single morning irrespective of ice, rain, fog, wind and snow.  It’s all in a nights work for our runway team.

We’ll be posting photos of the finished runway in January 2014.
