Loedige Asia Ltd. has completed the delivery of an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and a computerized Cargo Management System for Bangkok Flight Services at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, a major air cargo hub with a total of 96 airlines.

Bangkok Flight Services, a joint venture between Worldwide Flight Services and Bangkok Airways, provides full passenger, ramp and cargo handling services for all types of aircraft, from private charters to full service mainline carriers, including A380 capability.

The highly efficient and state-of-the-art BFS cargo terminal represents an investment of about US$38 million and extends over 55,000 sqm. It is capable of handling seven widebody aircraft simultaneously and is rated to handle 400,000 cargo tons per annum with an option to expand an additional 30,000 sqm. of warehouse space. To ensure a consistent service level, BFS offers all of the facilities for air cargo handling including variable temperature coldrooms, semi-automated ETV, elevating build break positions, mobile pallet handling equipment, high value products handling, separate dangerous goods room, air-conditioned facilities for transporting animals, access control system and security guards.

Loedige's Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) contains over 1,200 storage positions served by two high speed Storage and Retrieval Machines (SRMs). The AS/RS incorporates a bypass lane to improve throughput and redundancy. The AS/RS interfaces to the BFS Warehouse Management Software through Loedige's Cargo Management System.
