Towards simpler, lighter, better rules for General Aviation

ENAV took part in the EASA Annual Safety Conference, the yearly appointment organized by The European Aviation Safety Agency. The initiative which took place for the first time in Italy and is part of six month Italian Presidency of the European Union, focused on General aviation, that is traffic which includes the activities of aero clubs, flying schools and all light privately owned aircraft.

Iacopo Prissinotti, Head of ENAV International Strategies took part in a round table meeting called Current and Future challenges – Sharing the same Airspace, where representatives of European institutions, industry and air navigation service providers, exchanged ideas and opinions. The discussions were oriented towards the necessity of creating a simple and dynamic structure regarding regulations in order to guarantee the alignment of air space, technology and interoperability.

Mr. Prissinotti explained that the goal can be achieved by avoiding over regulation, creating comprehensive impact assessments and consultation among stakeholders. The ENAV's manager believes that air space is a unique resource shared among a multitude of different needs, civil and military, in which many different approaches co-exist. It is therefore essential to create an efficient and innovative ATM network to allow economic growth and at the same time keeping the safety level unchanged.
