Date 22.10.2014

ENAV took part in the international convention ''Aviation Safety and Passenger Rights: The Next Step'' organised by Fondazione 8 ottobre 2001 (8th October 2001 Foundation), in collaboration with Milan city council and the Demetra research facility.

Numerous international guests from the world of aviation were present. Among them were David McMillan, Chair of the Board of Governors – Flight Safety Foundation, Nancy Graham – Director Air Navigation Bureau – ICAO, Joe Sultana – Network Manager – Eurocontrol.

Iacopo Prissinotti, head of International Strategies participated on behalf of ENAV, focusing the attention on ENAV's commitment for the development of satellite systems. Especially Aireon, the first satellite surveillance system of air traffic control, which will be able to recognize the identity, position and altitude of any aircraft in the whole world, including the ocean, desert and polar areas. ENAV is among the main partners of Aireon with a 12.5% share. Mr Prissinotti explained the workings of the system and the benefits for all aviation throughout the world.

The debate among the most authoritative international representatives of the sector was aimed at developing concrete progress towards finding new strategies to improve in flight safety and to protect passengers.  Along these lines, Mr Prissinotti's intervention gave a glance into the future of air traffic developments.

New topics and evolution in the sector were the centre point of the convention; ICAO is also tackling new procedures aimed at optimising operations in emergency situations and managing post emergencies, while guaranteeing adequate assistance to passengers.
