Material Handling Solutions for Airports

From 8th-11th October, visitors to the worlds’ leading airport exhibition can admire Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE)’s towing tractors, warehouse systems and forklift trucks for airport use

Langenhagen/Munich, 8th October 2013 – Whether shipping international post, food or luxury cars, most goods are transported by air freight these days, and airports are amongst the largest goods logistics hubs. TMHE’s industrial trucks transport goods around many large airports in Europe.

TMHE provides the right equipment for the various stages in the shipping of goods, whether on the runway, in the terminal, indoors or outdoors. The towing tractors are ideally suited to horizontal transport, and the range includes models that are suitable for a variety of different uses: sitting or standing operators, inside or outside, for frequent or occasional use, and for different distances and loads. At the fair, TMHE will be exhibiting two engine-powered rider-seated towing tractors from its Toyota Tracto R-Series, which have traction power of up to 49 tonnes. All of the featured machines are designed for high performance over long distances.

Toyota's warehouse machines and forklift trucks are efficient, economical solutions for moving goods at height. Visitors will also be able to see the SWE120L model from the BT Staxio range at the fair. This pedestrian-operated electric platform stacker excels in particular at pallet transport and stacking.

inter airport Europe will also host a model of the new Toyota Traigo 80 volt electric counterbalanced truck. This is the perfect machine for handling heavy loads and trolleys in storage, or loading them into the aircraft. A newly-developed control unit and low-maintenance Toyota AC2 three phase a.c. driving technology guarantees high performance with minimum wear. In terms of efficiency, the energy consumption of the new range has been reduced by 20% compared to the previous one, and lifting and lowering speeds have been improved. Different mast and cab versions are available for specific uses.

Another highlight of the exhibition will be TMHE’s diesel forklift truck with full cab in the Toyota Tonero range, which can handle loads of up to 2.5 tonnes. Like the Traigo range models, the Tonero is fitted with the unique System for Active Stability (SAS) as a standard feature: its preventive safety functions ensure the stability of the forklift when cornering, make load control easier and reducing the risk of load instability.
