MEON Ltd - Go First Class: Airside Marking Made Simple

Company Meon
Date 25.01.2016

The runway is an intricate part to any airport in the world.  Every day, millions of people fly within the thousands of planes that venture into the skies. Airports across the globe enable us to travel seamlessly from one place to another. The last time you flew did you take the time to look around at the surface? Every single mark on an airport runway is there for a specific reason and provides a safety and organisation to the demanding areas.

This fast moving and constantly evolving asset needs to be well maintained all year round, just recently Heathrow Airport, one of the worlds busiest celebrated 70 years of being a commercial airport. Last year saw the close of the historic terminal 1 and the completion of a renovation of Terminal 2. Now named ‘The Queens Terminal”.

Quick Fact: Runways are numbered between 01 & 36, which is generally one tenth of the magnetic azimuth of the runways heading in degrees.

Meon provides a selection of products, which are currently used at several airports across the UK to maintain airside runway surfacing. Our most popular product aimed at airports is ViaLine a toluene free eco friendly paint that utilises our unique Envira Pac technology, a inner lining to the paint tin, meaning a completely clean tin after use ready for recycling. A demonstration at Dublin Airport was so successful they are now using the paint regularly, as well as Graco LineLazer machines to apply the paint.
