Milano Malpensa chooses G-SMART system for locating GSEs

G-SMART has been recognized as an effective solution, able to meet the needs of one of the busiest international airports in Europe which alone handles around 70% of the goods in transit at Italian airports.

To locate the GSEs within the airport grounds, Milan Malpensa has chosen to equip itself with G-SMART, an intelligent tracking system, capable of supporting and combining different technologies to offer the best performing solution in every situation.

For an international airport like Milan Malpensa, which alone handles about 70% of the total goods in transit through Italian airports, knowing the position of certain ground support equipments (in this case especially the dollys) becomes essential to guarantee the necessary level of efficiency and speed of loading and unloading activities of aircrafts. The solution sought had to have certain characteristics, including ease of installation, minimal maintenance and integration with existing systems: G-SMART meets all these requirements. In fact, using RFID technology with passive tags, we have managed to offer an economical solution, which can be mounted on a large number of pieces and which allows easy installation and practically zero maintenance. In this way, with little effort the airport reduces organizational and process inefficiencies, knowing the position of the GSEs in real-time and thus being able to always have them available at the time of aircraft arrival.

In this particularly case, RFID is the technology that best satisfies the customer’s needs; however, the system has been developed to support and combine different technologies, including: GPS, Bluetooth, IoT-LoRaWan, ADS-B, etc.
