When hosted in a cloud environment, ARINC SmartBag eliminates the need for dedicated on-site server requirements, which in turn helps smaller airports with resource management, enabling greater flexibility and scalability for future operations.

How does ARINC SmartBag work?

ARINC SmartBag tracks baggage throughout the airport journey, from drop-off to collection at the destination airport. With real-time, highly detailed tracking information dashboards, users can use a high-level overview of the progress of baggage with action items such as:

• Authorisation to load
• Last seen location
• Current location
• Baggage information
• Inbound and outbound flight information
• Passenger information
• Assigned gate information

The system can be configured with additional scan points, providing granular detail according to the needs and size of the airport. The ability to track individual items of luggage in real time enables airport operators to gain insights into the baggage journey at every point, including during interlining.

In the unlikely event that baggage be mishandled, ARINC SmartBag uses a powerful reflighting tool designed to reconnect passengers with their baggage as quickly and efficiently as possible, minimising costs and delays. ARINC SmartBag updates key systems, such as DCS, WorldTracer^® and the baggage handling system with the routing information and offers real-time insights on the baggage progress.
