Northrop Grumman - Park Air Systems News - August 2010

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Europe-based air traffic management system subsidiary, Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems, has been awarded a contract by China Aviation Supplies International Tendering Co. (CASITC) to supply VHF radio communication systems for the Chengdu area air traffic control centre. In total, 110 channels will be operated from the control centre which is currently under construction for the Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) of China. The programme represents the largest air traffic control (ATC) VHF system delivered to date in China.

The 110 channels are distributed across 17 sites throughout the ATMB South West administration region providing three services: Chengdu regional control, airway radar control and Europe and Asia airway control.

The multi-million dollar contract was won after a competitive tender process, and follows the provision of several large systems to ATMB. The system is centered on Northrop Grumman Park Air System’s T6 range of VHF ATC radios which have been extensively deployed throughout China over the last decade.
