Successful three days for Pfannenberg in Nuremberg

Hamburg-based company Pfannenberg presented its impressive and innovative products for the thermal management of electrical enclosures, for process cooling and for the signaling technology sector at this year’s SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg. In addition to the new air/water heat exchangers, heaters from the PFH series and medium-sized PYRA series, the electric racing car by the Green Team from Stuttgart University with filterfan 4.0 technology was also on display. At this year’s SPS IPC Drives, a total of 60,027 visitors took the chance to find out about the latest developments and trends in the electric automation sector in in-depth discussions with 1,622 exhibitors. There was much positive feedback at the Pfannenberg booth: many visitors from home and abroad showed great interest in the company’s products.

New fan heater – great power in a small housing

Pfannenberg presented its compact fan heater from the PFH Series at the SPS IPC Drives 2013 for the first time. The new devices provide a heat output of 200 to 1,200 watts in only one housing size. The heating solution from the PFH Series has a particularly high performance-volume-ratio and also excels because of its increased flexibility regarding its mounting positions. Furthermore, the sturdy fan heater can withstand extreme environmental fluctuations: the minimum operating temperature lies at -40°C, the maximum operating temperature at +70°C. The PFH fan heater series is certified for both the American and the European market.

New air/water heat exchanger – energy efficient and cut-out compatible

The new air/water heat exchangers were also presented at this year’s SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg and extend the PWS Series. As part of the Pfannenberg εcool family, they guarantee a maximum amount of energy efficiency and safety. In contrast to other cooling units, the air/water heat exchangers provide a maintenance-free operation and extremely low noise emissions. They are particularly suitable for environments in which difficult conditions prevail, such as high temperatures or oily air for example. The new devices are available in three sizes and in the performance classes 500 to 5,000 watts. The air/water heat exchangers are cut-out compatible with the cooling units and the air/air heat exchangers from Pfannenberg’s εcool series. This makes it easier to replace cooling units because of new requirements regarding thermal management performance or ambient conditions.

PYRA M flashing lights and PYRA MA flashing sounders – easier and safer

Further innovations were the PYRA M flashing lights and the flashing sounders from the PYRA MA Series in elegant pyramid design. Both products are characterized by their particularly easy mounting, which means very short installation times. Additionally, the simple installation means a high level of safety, because incorrect installation is virtually impossible. Due to the effective XENON technology, the largest possible signaling range can be covered despite the comparably low energy consumption.

Electric Racing Car – The University of Stuttgart joins the race with Pfannenberg’s filter technology

The electric racing car by the University of Stuttgart’s Green Team could also be seen at the Pfannenberg booth. The team of 36 students competed against other universities in the international design competition “Formula Student Electric” and was the best German team, winning 3rd place internationally. This year Pfannenberg is one of the sponsors of the Green Team. The students hold the world record with their racing car EO711-4 due to its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.68 seconds. Its battery – the most important component of an electric racing car – is optimized with Pfannenberg’s 4th generation filterfan. The 4th generation filterfan’s patented fluted filter mat absorbs more harmful particles than conventional fleece filters as it has a larger surface due to the fan-shaped fins. Thus, the battery casing is protected against the penetration of foreign bodies like rainwater for example, and the safety of the electronics is guaranteed.

Pfannenberg Sizing Software (PSS): Correctly dimensioned cooling and alerting concepts

In order to determine the appropriate solution for thermal management in correspondence with the ambient conditions, Pfannenberg provides sizing software that is really easy to use. In addition to the tried and tested module for the calculation of the cooling requirements in electrical enclosures and in process cooling, the software also provides the possibility to select standardized signaling technology solutions. The software calculates and dimensions a suitable concept for alarms for buildings, alarms for machines or for general alerting. The Pfannenberg Sizing Software (PSS) is available on CD or as a download under www.pfannenberg.com.
