Successful EMO 2013 for Pfannenberg and its innovative product solutions

Hamburg, 23 September 2013. Pfannenberg, the process and system cooling specialist from Hamburg, Germany, presented impressive and innovative products for the thermal management of electrical enclosures, for process cooling and for the signaling technology sector at the EMO 2013 in Hanover. In addition to air/air heat exchangers, prizewinning sounders and flashing sounders, the electric racing car by the Green Team from Stuttgart University was on display. The car is equipped with 4th generation filterfan technology developed by Pfannenberg. Interested parties could also get information on the extensive product portfolio of the electro-technology manufacturer during the EMO.

Air/air heat exchanger – energy efficient and cut-out compatible

Pfannenberg set totally new standards for efficient cooling with its air/air heat exchangers from the PAI/PAS series. With this series, the expert for thermal management offers a particularly energy efficient series – an ideal solution for dusty and damp as well as for harsh environments. Identical in construction to the Pfannenberg cooling units DTI/DTS from the εcool series, planners and designers can put in either active cooling units or air/air heat exchangers according to the situation. This not only reduces the cost and planning effort but also increases process reliability and safety.

Award winning product highlights: Sounders with high efficiency

The PA sounders and PAX flashing sounders from the PATROL-series, which both won the “red dot design award 2013”, convinced not only because of their design, but primarily due to a particularly high time and cost efficiency. Mounting and installation times are short; the extremely high acoustic efficiency owing to their open mounting position reduces the number of necessary sounders. In addition, the flashing sounders are certified according to EN 54-23 and give planners and engineers more planning security.

Electric Racing car E0711-4: 4th Generation Filter Technology

The technology expert topped off its product presentation at this year’s EMO with a remarkable innovation: The University of Stuttgart’s Green Team electric racing car. Sponsored by Pfannenberg, the car’s acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.68 seconds not only gets a world record – its air-cooled battery (the most important component of an electric racing car) is also optimized with Pfannenberg’s 4th generation filterfan. The exhaust filter with patented fluted filter mat enables a higher airflow rate with system of protection IP 55 and extends the service life by 300%. In addition, the filter mat absorbs considerably larger particle quantities than conventional fleece filters, with which the security of the electronics is guaranteed. The racing car in the future-oriented design is once again competing in the international “Formula Student Electric” competition with its team of 36 students this year. The Green Team participated in the last European race of the competition in Varano, Italy, from 13th – 16th September and took the overall victory. The next race of electronic vehicles will be Formula Student China, which takes place from 15th – 20th October 2013 in Xiangyang, Province Hubei, China.

Pfannenberg Sizing Software (PSS): Correctly dimensioned cooling and alerting concepts.

In order to determine the appropriate solution for thermal management in correspondence with the ambient conditions, Pfannenberg provides sizing software that is really easy to use. In addition to the tried and tested module for the calculation of the cooling requirements in electrical enclosures and in process cooling, the software also provides the possibility to select standardized signaling technology solutions. The software calculates and dimensions a suitable concept for alarms for buildings, alarms for machines or for general alerting. The Pfannenberg Sizing Software (PSS) is available on CD or as a download right here.
