Passenger, Baggage and Cargo Handling Airport Solutions

Company PSI Logistics GmbH
Date 09.07.2013

Flughafen Hamburg GmbH has contracted the PSI Logistics GmbH, Berlin, with retrofitting the server hardware and the corresponding customization of the management software.

The project includes the design, delivery and implementation of a new control computer for the baggage handling system and the corresponding maintenance and support. This also includes the integration of the new controlling processes in the existing PSIairport/BHS baggage handling system and therefore optimisation of the IT system. “The new infrastructure provides the Hamburg Airport with sufficient capacity for additional passenger count,” says James Logue, the responsible PSI Logistics project manager. “With the exchange of the hardware components and their connection to the baggage handling system the Hamburg Airport will significantly increase the availability and performance of its baggage handling.”

The project was awarded in February 2013. The control computer was exchanged during running operations in June. In July of this year the new software system and the optimised software product will commence real-time operations.

To date ten of the twelve largest German passenger airports use PSI airport solutions. The Hamburg Airport handles about 14 million passengers annually.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,600 persons worldwide.
