PSIairport to control the baggage conveyor and sorting system

Berlin, 22 March 2010 – PSI Group has been awarded by the General contractor Vanderlande Industries GmbH with providing PSIairport software to control the baggage conveyor and sorting system at the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport (BBI).

As part of a 12-month project, the baggage conveyor and sorting system will be equipped with the new software. As early as May 2011, all of the structural components necessary to operate the new airport will be thoroughly tested in a six-month test run together with the baggage conveyor and sorting system.

BBI will go into operation on 30 October 2011 with a starting capacity of 25 to 27 million passengers per year. Control of the automatic conveyor systems must therefore be reliable and efficient.

PSI has led the way in the development and installation of control systems for modern airports such as Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne/Bonn, Leipzig/Halle, Stuttgart and Vienna for years. The contract for the new Capital Airport BBI enables PSI to consolidate its position in the attractive market for airport logistics.

PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software products, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water), cross-company production management (metals, automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,400 persons in the group.
