Profit growth in electrical energy and logistics

Berlin, 23 October 2014 – PSI Group increased its sales in the third quarter by 4 % to 43.0 million Euros (3rd quarter 2013: 41.4 million Euros). The EBIT, which – due to one-off expenses – was negative in the same quarter of the previous year, improved to 1.8 million Euros (3rd quarter 2013: –2.8 million Euros). The volume of new orders in the third quarter was, at 44 million Euros, 29 % above the figure for the same period last year and therefore also significantly above the figure for the second quarter of 2014 (3rd quarter 2013: 34 million Euros, 2nd quarter 2014: 33 million Euros).

The electrical energy business continued its upward trend in the third quarter with strong new orders and a significant improvement in the EBIT. In the logistics business, the last remaining encumbrances from the previous year of one million Euros were finally booked. The business units automotive and machinery (PSIPENTA) and logistics made significant contributions to the result in the course of “Industry 4.0”.

The new mining control system is currently undergoing its initial operational tests at a major Chinese customer; an important license payment was made to PSI by another customer. In infrastructure management, PSI recorded a high volume of new orders from long-standing and new customers in Germany, Switzerland and Malaysia, so that a significant increase in the EBIT is expected for the fourth quarter.

In view of the current geopolitical risks and the delay of export contracts, the PSI Management Board does not intend to forecast profits for the entire year of 2014 at present, but expects new orders at the level of the previous year. The complete report for the first nine months of the year will be published as planned on 30 October 2014.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs nearly 1,700 persons worldwide.
