With a comprehensive overview of its product and service spectrum, PSI Logistics GmbH will present varied approaches to the concept of "Green through IT" in intralogistics at stand D18 in Hall 27.

With the motto "Sustainability in Intralogistics", CeMAT 2011 presents a particular challenge for intralogistics with the topic of sustainability, the merging of ecology and economy, in the foreground.

In fact, many different studies show that only around ten percent of all companies manage their supply chain efficiently. Modern IT systems that consider the logistics processes as a whole offer a basis for achieving this potential. As an element of strategic, cross-location logistics planning, they optimise the communication and goods flows and reduce transport costs.

However, the concept of "Green" should not just focus on the economic components. With regard to logistics IT, the term sustainability offers solutions that provide a balance between the economic and ecological demands of modern business strategies. Logistics software provides users with countless options for implementing "Green through IT" with optimum use of available resources ranging from company-internal optimisation effects to location and cross-company options to the design and planning of (global) supply chains.

Against this background, PSI Logistics has thus aligned its product portfolio to the integration of modern technologies and market-focussed functionality. The Warehouse Management System PSIwms, the Transportation Management System PSItms, and also the Planning and Control Software PSIglobal provide premium systems with an individual character which, on the one hand, increase efficiency and flexibility in the value creation processes and, on the other hand, meet the relevant requirements placed on sustainable Green Logistics as the optimisation function of logistics networks – even across locations and company borders.

PSIglobal as a strategic planning and optimisation instrument thus enables the formation of logistics networks with aspects of Green Logistics, the inclusion of ecological parameters in planning, and the alignment of networks as necessary and in the required scope. In this way, weak points in logistics networks can be easily identified using the functions of the software, potential savings can be uncovered, and the flexible weighting of the ecologically based requirements of Green Logistics can be integrated.

Premium WMS such as PSIwms provide instruments for commissioning orders when capacity and preparation areas are actually available. The multi-site enabled Warehouse Management System enables the control of cooperative processes and efficient resource utilisation across several warehouses. This both optimises and reduces transport and transportation costs and offers new, customer-focussed value creation processes, such as the IT-supported sequencing of order processing and load sequences, or the selection of optimised carriers, dispatch, and packaging systems.

The situation is similar in transport planning and transport cost optimisation. With intelligent Transportation Management Systems such as PSItms, efficient transport planning can be achieved with consideration of traffic situations and available slots via the integration of navigation data. In this way, structure-related cost implications can be integrated with extensive networked logistics – from location choice and warehouse costs to the level of service.

In the context of intralogistics, sustainability means "Green through IT". This includes the saving and/or optimum utilisation through intelligent approaches of all resources relevant to intralogistics, such as time, areas, employees, energy, and materials. Integral logistics IT from PSI Logistics forms a solid basis for meeting the requirements of an innovative modern integrated logistics system.

PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software products, for energy management (electricity, gas, oil, heating, water), cross-company production management (metals, automotive, machinery and plant engineering, mining, logistics), and infrastructure management for transport and security. PSI was founded in 1969 and has 1,400 employees. www.psi.de
