Leading business technology specialist Amor Group has secured its first aviation contract in North America, providing an innovative portable Bluetooth passenger tracking system at Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada’s busiest airport.

The BlipTrack™ software, utilised as part of Amor Group’s PAXPath+ solution, is the first of its kind in North America and will provide a platform for Amor Group and its partner BLIP Systems to continue growth into this key market.

The software is already used by leading international airports such as Copenhagen, Oslo, Brussels and Manchester, enabling managers to monitor service level performance at key areas such as security, immigration and transfer.

The contract for an initial 12 month pilot scheme was awarded by Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which manages the airport, following a competitive tendering process.

The one-year deal will see Amor Group and BLIP Systems providing Toronto Pearson with a portable passenger tracking system that uses Bluetooth technology to track the movements of passengers and their wait times.

The GTAA will then be able to use the data to make operational decisions and improvements to enhance the overall experience for the 30 million passengers who use the airport every year with the goal of reducing wait times.

Jim McKenzie, Amor Group’s Transport Business Unit Director said the contract was hugely significant.

“We are absolutely delighted to have secured our first aviation contract in North America, as well as being able to bring the first passenger tracking system of its kind to Canada and the USA. This will pave the way for continued international expansion and North America is a key location for Amor Group.

“The Operations and Customer Experience team at the GTAA wanted to have the flexibility to deploy the solution at various locations at Toronto Pearson and we are certain that our solution will exceed the initial scope of their requirements throughout the duration of the pilot.

“The portable PAXPath+ system, powered by BlipTrack™, was an ideal solution. Bluetooth technology has already established itself as the leading method of monitoring passenger movements, giving an understanding of how long they have to wait at pinch points such as security. The data produced will allow Toronto Pearson’s  team to gain a greater understanding of how the airport operates and make decisions on how best to utilize staffing and other resources to improve the experience for passengers.”

The contract started in January, with the potential for a further 12-month extension.

With a global client list including BAA, Oslo and Helsinki Airports, Amor Group is widely recognised for its pioneering solutions that alleviate common bottlenecks at airports.

Amor Group signed an exclusive worldwide reseller agreement with BLIP Systems last year, building on their existing partnership to deliver Amor Group’s PAXPath+ solution.

The agreement is a key component in Amor Group’s international business growth strategy, as it looks to grow its revenues to £60million by 2012.
