Perimeter Road Sweepers and Winter Maintenance Equipment

Company Scarab Sweepers Limited
Date 10.06.2013

The problem of cleaning of our cities and roads is not unique to the UK and Scarab Sweepers have been increasingly successful in helping municipalities and contractors tackle this on a global scale.

Dave Cassingham, Managing Director of Scarab explained that since joining the Fayat Group there have been many opportunities to restructure our distribution activities together with our sister companies, Ravo and Mathieu. We have already begun enjoying the benefits of working together with group dealers in Spain, Italy and Turkey and have appointed a number of other new export partners in the last few years securing increased market share in many of the 30+ countries where we operate.

Our success in winning the recent Government contract for Santiago, Chile combined with the prestigious contracts for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has seen more than 100 additional units added to our continually expanding production programme. We have benefitted from a massive influx of business recently which is keeping our Kent manufacturing base busier than ever and looking back, it is amazing to think that 3 years ago the economic climate in Europe was causing a great deal of concern to many companies in our sector.

The additional work has meant a significant increase in production, bringing with it security and demand for new jobs. We have managed to virtually double our output in the last 12 months and we believe that 2013 has the potential to be our most successful year on record.

Dave was keen to point out that Scarab’s Export demand is an area of growth and whilst it has been necessary to take advantage of these golden opportunities, Scarab have always remained fully committed to meeting the expectations of their loyal UK customers.

Paul Mannering, UK Sales Manager confirmed that Scarab had enjoyed sustained success during 2012 with Local Authorities and contractors. In the compact sweeper segment, fleets of Azuras had very recently been installed into Coleraine, Vale of Glamorgan and Scarborough and several more due into Sheffield via Amey whilst Gateshead had put into service half a dozen Scarab Minors. The hire sector was also buoyant with Dawson Rentals taking delivery of a further 20 machines to satisfy customer demand.

Recent successes in the truck-mounted sector with Local Authority Service providers Veolia, Serco and Biffa resulted in a further 20 machines in production and the multiple orders from Bury, Bridgend, Brighton and Derby were all examples of customers coming back to Scarab with repeat business.

So wherever you are in the UK or indeed the world, it is highly likely that a sweeper designed and built by Scarab in the South East of England is working nearby to make a real difference to the streets and environment around you.
