PSI Logistics receives TOP Innovator 2016 award

Jury rewards very good innovative climate and strength
Within the framework of the German Mittelstand Summit on 24 June 2016, PSI Logistics GmbH was rewarded as one of the most innovative companies representing medium-sized companies in Germany. The TOP 100 seal for particular innovative strength and above-average innovative success awarded by compamedia GmbH, Überlingen since 1993 puts PSI Logistics up there among Germany’s innovative leaders.
Under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr Nikolaus Franke, the team at the Chair for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Vienna University of Economics and Business analysed 4,000 companies this year. In the final round, applicants were assessed in five categories: Innovation-friendly Top Management, Innovative Climate, Innovative Processes and Organisation, Innovative Marketing/External Orientation and Innovative Success. PSI Logistics was convincing with its very good internal innovative climate integrating ideas by customers and employees as well as from research projects.
In such a research project, PSI Logistics developed the basic principles for an IT system which establishes in real time the effects of traffic and weather data on the supply chain and indicates necessary alternatives as required. Parallel to this and based on state-of-the-art technologies, PSI is steadily developing innovative functions, modules and business ideas, e.g. in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT chips (“iBeacons”) with mini Bluetooth transmitters form the basis for solutions already availed of by PSI Logistics for the areas of localisation, indoor navigation, motion detection and level indication. As a business model, it has developed an application for tracking parcels. “Smart Parcel” enables parcels to be collected and delivered as well as steering their own movements, with integrated sensors recording motion and ambient data such as changes in temperature or position, and communicating their locations in real time.
“The high level of market acceptance of our products is based on the principle of a ‘hands-on product’ which incorporates the requirements voiced by customers as well as the latest technologies”, explains Dr Giovanni Prestifilippo, CEO at PSI Logistics. “After all, innovative strength and innovations are by no means random but rather the result of ongoing commitment at numerous levels of market relevance. Apart from commitment by our own employees, this also involves steady exchanges of information between science, research and of course our customers. We see this path being acknowledged by an award as one of the most innovative TOP 100 medium-sized German companies.”
