Glasdon UK Ltd. - Success in Recycling at Perth Airport

Company Glasdon UK Limited
Date 18.05.2015

Perth Airport is the fourth largest airport in Australia in terms of passenger traffic. Increasing traffic year on year has led to a larger amount of waste being sent to landfill. As part of a wider sustainability strategy, Perth airport have been working to integrate recycling into all aspects of their business.

Glasdon Nexus® 100 recycling bins are strategically located at check-in and departure lounge areas, encouraging passengers and visitors to dispose of their waste efficiently, using the dedicated Nexus recycling bins for waste streams such as paper, cans and plastics.

Nexus 100 containers have a sleek design and can collect large amounts of recyclables without taking up valuable floor space. A removable door and wheels on the base make transporting heavier loads easier, while a drip tray and sack retention system prevents litter and liquids spilling on the floor. Perth Airport also opted for an additional sign kit to increase visibility of the bins across the terminal. They used these to add branding and to provide further instructions on accepted waste streams in each container.

The airports’ ‘Waste Minimisation Initiative’ has had increasing success since implementation and had reported a 32% increase in waste recycling across the Perth Airport estate.
