  • 620DV advanced baggage screener now meets ECAC CEP Standard 2 requirements for liquid explosive detection
  • Dual View standard 2 compliant system has achieved worldwide aviation security regulatory approvals

Rapiscan Systems, Inc., a leading global supplier of security inspection systems, announced today that its 620DV (Dual View) advanced baggage scanner has passed the European Civil Aviation Conference’s (ECAC) common evaluation process (CEP) Standard 2 threat detection test for Liquid Explosive Detection Systems (LEDS). The 620DV has also been approved for use by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), ECAC, and various other regulatory bodies.

One of the most widely deployed advanced baggage-screening systems in the world, the 620DV is an ECAC Standard 2 compliant system that offers a highly competitive total cost of ownership.  Utilizing advanced threat detection software, the system classifies liquids in scanned carry-ons as potential threats or benign, freeing passengers from having to remove liquids from luggage at security checkpoints. By providing two perpendicular views, the Rapiscan 620DV delivers a more complete perspective of scanned items, allowing airport screeners to better identify potential threats, including liquid explosive and other improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

“More than ever, airports need a complete and cost effective screening solution that can not only detect conventional explosive threats but also differentiate between threatening and benign liquids,” said Ajay Mehra, President, Rapiscan Systems. “Rapiscan’s 620DV is the ideal solution for airports, airlines and regulators across the globe striving to meet the challenges posed by liquids in carry-ons; the 620DV provides an affordable, high-performance security solution that meets the regulatory requirements of today and emerging measures in the future.

The Rapiscan 620DV has been approved for use by the UK’s Department for Transport and the US Transportation Security Administration for both aviation checkpoint screening and air cargo screening. It can also be used for critical non-aviation applications such as military checkpoints, customs inspection and the protection of national infrastructure.
