Jotron AS designs and manufactures high quality communication products and systems for land, sea and air applications. The company earlier this summer entered into a contract with Namibian based company Teltech for delivery to the Civil Aviation Authority in Namibia. Four local airports will be equipped with Jotron’s fully integrated solution for aeronautical radios and recording system.
“This Jotron-Ricochet integration marks an important milestone in our ATC and Coastal Communication Division's history,” says Morten Gjersoe, Director at Jotron. – Our customer will benefit from a fully IP-based and easy to operate ATC system – from a single supplier.
Namibia will install a complete and integrated Jotron system including radios, operator panels, dual recorders, remote radio controller(RRC) servers and centralized remote access and control system (RACS). The ATC towers at Katima Mulilo and Keetmanshoop, and the soon to be constructed towers at Ondangwa and Swakopmund will benefit from Jotron’s high-class ATC solution. Services will be provided for civilian aircraft operations.
The complete system is based on the ED-137(B) VoIP protocol for both voice operation and recording. It will be one of the first of its kind that utilises the ED-137(B) protocol for all communication throughout the network. The solution also integrates older analogue radios to the VoIP system using an RGW (Radio Gateway) that efficiently converts an analogue radio interface into a fully compliant ED-137(B) solution. The radios have been tested and verified using the latest test suite (VOTER 2.0) from Eurocontrol and are able to handle multiple VoIP streams in addition to multiple recorder streams according to the standards. The system also includes a telephone switch that is integrated into the communication system.
“We are impressed with the extensive experience and high-technology level of Jotron’s radio and recording solutions,” says Ralph Erdtelt, General Manager at Teltech. “We are confident that the partnership with Jotron will provide Namibian operators with a strong road map for the future.”
Jotron has a significant presence in the African ATC market.
“We are continuously involved in interesting African projects,” Morten Gjersoe continues. – Adding four new airports to our customer portfolio is evidence of a successful market strategy and choice of partners.
