Airlock Aviation Ltd has been privileged to work in partnership with Gibraltar International Airport throughout 2012 helping them to prepare for, and complete, a very successful transfer from the old terminal into the brand new airport terminal.
Phase 1 of the partnership consisted of ‘seconding’ a member of the Airlock management team to Gibraltar for some 8 months. During this period, Jim Higgins from Airlock worked as the Airport Security Manager to ensure that all elements of the security function were in good order ready for the move. Manuals and instructions were amended and a security quality control programme was designed and implemented. In addition training requirements were identified and training implemented in time for the opening of the new terminal at the end of September. Janine Leigh spent a week on the 'Rock' training the additional security staff needed by the much larger terminal.
Phase 2 of the project will see the continuation of this support through a series of visits in 2013. The main aim will be to monitor the overall Quality Assurance programme and training regime and to mentor the newly appointed Quality Control Officer.
