Building up an airport asset register has never been an easy task and is both extremely time consuming and expensive. With the latest development from ServiceTec, the task of capturing airport asset information and keeping it up to date has never been easier.

ServiceTec Asset Management is an asset management solution for airport and airline facilities, finance and maintenance management teams. The new system uses bar code scanning technology to create and maintain an airport asset number-based inventory system capable of recording all consigned inventory, spare parts, consumables, etc. – as well as ServiceTec-owned capital assets. And because it supports the latest Pocket PC devices, ServiceTec Asset Management allows users to capture any type of asset information quickly and efficiently before transferring the data to the ServiceTec Asset Management database at a touch of a button.

Developed using the Microsoft . Net platform and using SQL Server as the database platform, ServiceTec Asset Management is completely secure and allows airport management teams to tailor the solution to their precise asset tracking and management requirements.

In addition to supporting Pocket PC/Windows Mobile based handheld devices ServiceTec Asset Management has been developed to deliver the specific capabilities demanded by international airports including PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) – which manages the requirement and visit recording for electrical devices, a necessity for Health and Safety regulations, and PM (Preventive Maintenance) scheduling – so that information and renewal alerts on, warranties, maintenance and routine inspections, insurance policies, etc can be efficiently managed.

“ServiceTec Asset Management allows us to provide our clients with a fully integrated asset tracking and management solution that can be completely customised to meet the requirements of each client’s management teams,” explained Les Morton, ServiceTec’s Netherlands Country Manager. “We have already implemented this new system at Schiphol to provide specialist inventory control solutions and the early results are very promising.”

ServiceTec Asset Management allows ServiceTec to integrate customer generated CI (Configuration Item) identifiers into its own asset recording systems, and generates unique and durable identification labels in accordance with ITIL guidelines before adding these to ServiceTec CMS (Configuration Management System), so that each asset can be tracked from registration, through service and repair, to withdrawal.

The system also has the ability to link to documents, pictures and other files (such as digital photographs, CAD drawings, Maps, Purchase orders, Warranty and Service Level Agreement documents, etc.) against each asset, providing a centralised repository of all information relating to that asset. A powerful customised report facility allows users to generate their own reports quickly, easily and without the need for IT specialist involvement.
