The latest release of Simtra’s CAD-based PathPlanner A5 software contains a further developed gate design interface that is truly amazing.  “Airports and airlines are looking for extremely efficient and flexible gate usage,” says Ben van Leest, Managing Director at Simtra.  “We have recognised this trend and with our PathPlanner A5 software we offer them a tool to analyse the gate layout and design an optimised solution, even for the most complicated aircraft parking configuration.”

PathPlanner A5 automatically calculates and displays aircraft nose wheel stop positions based on various criteria such as slope in the passenger boarding bridge(s) and distance to fuel pit(s).  In one study multiple  lead-in lines, bridges and fuel pits and up to 150 aircraft types can be incorporated resulting in a “perfect” Multiple Aircraft Ramp System (MARS).

“Besides high quality of the technical solution, the software offers elimination of human error and significant time savings,” continues van Leest.  “Where it used to take more than a week with much trial and error, designers can now confidently present a gate layout within a day.”
