Smiths Detection Wins $4.5 Million Contract for Automated Explosives Detection Systems in Ecuador Airport

New International Airport in Quito to Deploy the Most Technologically Advanced Passenger and Baggage Integrated Solution in the Region.

 

Laval, Quebec, 13 August 2009 – Smiths Detection today announces it has been awarded a US$4.5 million contract for EDtS (Explosives Detection tomography System) in the new Quito International Airport in Ecuador.

Smiths Detection HI-SCAN EDtS automated X-ray screening equipment will be integrated into the state-of-the-art baggage handling system of the new Quito International Airport in Ecuador. This is the latest in a series of international purchases of Smiths Detection 100% Hold Baggage Screening technology deployed in multi-level arrangements with comprehensive networked image evaluation features.

This contract stems from close collaboration between Smiths Detection and its local partner, Unlimited Systems Ecuador, in promoting and offering local support for the latest technology driven solutions from Smiths Detection.
