CADAS upgrade and installation of an FPL2012 convertor is final piece of a multi-stage project for the General Authority of Civil Aviation.

COMSOFT has added the final piece to its major upgrade of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) AMHS systems. In a project that began last year and included an upgrade to CADAS with the AIDA-FPL convertor, GACA is ready to comply with ICAO’s new Flight Plan 2012 mandate.

In a far sighted decision, GACA ordered COMSOFT’s AIDA-FPL convertor to meet the deadline for ICAO’s Flight Plan switch in November 2012, and it was the first ANSP to request a bi-directional functionality that could communicate not only from Present to New format, but also from New to Present; this at a time when the standards for conversion had not been set. This bi-directional enhancement has since become a standard feature of COMSOFT’s AIDA-FPL convertor, another reason for its growing popularity among ANSPs.

COMSOFT’s project manager, Andreas Boehm, commented on this successful achievement: “The project has demonstrated the versatility and flexibility of COMSOFT and our products in being able to meet new and unexpected requests from customers and innovate a solution in a short time to serve their needs.”

A large number of ANSPs worldwide already use COMSOFT’s AIDA-FPL converter, which is available either as a standalone appliance or as a software module for COMSOFT’s market-leading AMHS/AFTN node AIDA-NG.

COMSOFT GmbH was established in 1979 and has been active in the ATC domain for over 20 years. The company enjoys a worldwide reputation in this market.
