COMSOFT supports Egypt’s National Air Navigation Services Company (NANSC) in prestigious AIS modernisation programme.

Following a highly competitive tender process, NANSC awarded the German ATC specialist COMSOFT the prestigious contract for the modernisation of Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) in Egypt’s ATC Centres as well as at all airports of the country. Now, after successful factory acceptance, conducted by NANSC’s AIS experts, the large-sized information system is about to be rolled out to its final destination. In the first phase, the main AIM system will be installed at Cairo Air Navigation Center (CANC). It can be accessed remotely via internet from Egypt’s five major airports Aswan, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Alexandria. Phase two of the project will see Egypt’s nine remaining domestic airports connected to the new AIM system.

COMSOFT supplies to NANSC their well-known CADAS AIM solution which implements ICAO’s and EUROCONTROL’s latest AIM standards. The solution handles conventional as well as future Digital NOTAMs and benefits significantly from its native AIXM 5.1 database, which is a vital precondition for the implementation of integrated AIM. The database integrates seamlessly with COMSOFT’s extremely user-friendly flight plan management and briefing applications as well as the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) that give users comprehensive access to all relevant aeronautical information.

In order to ensure safe and secure IP- and web-based communications, COMSOFT will supply the elaborate COMSOFT Internet Security Appliance (CISECA) that employs a layered security system, shielding vital AIM functions and applications from unauthorised access and malicious intrusions.

Since 2008, when COMSOFT started to support NANSC in modernizing their ATM architecture with AMHS, complemented recently with COMSOFT’s FPL 2012 conversion solution, COMSOFT and NANSC are enjoying a strong working relationship. NANSC Project Director Mahmoud Ramadan expressed his high satisfaction with the completion of the factory acceptance testing: “This is the beginning of the most ambitious collaboration between COMSOFT and NANSC since we began working together in 2008.  Upgrading our AIM systems is vital for the long-term, sustainable air traffic growth that is forecast for Egypt. COMSOFT’s off-the-shelf modular solution provides a future-proofed system that can be modified, improved, extended and upgraded with either COMSOFT or third-party systems to meet the evolving needs of our fast-growing air traffic environment.”
