COMSOFT completes AMHS deployment ahead of PNG Air Services’ ambitious tight schedule

PORT MORESBY/PAPUA NEW GUINEA, September 2013 – In a determined time frame COMSOFT ensured their AIDA-NG and CADAS solutions were fully operational for Papua New Guinea Air Services Limited (PNGASL) in just five months.

With the up-to-date and ICAO compliant system now fully operational PNG Air Services have the ability to establish AMHS connections with neighbouring countries, such as Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, who already operate COMSOFT’s AMHS solution. PNG Air Services Limited’s current AFTN link to Australia is planned to be updated in the coming months.

The project’s swift execution was fundamental for PNGASL, who were keen to provide the advanced message handling technology to the Pacific Island Country, as air travel is essential due to mountainous terrain that limits road travel. So when Site Acceptance was finalised on September 10, 2013 the system was migrated to operational service in the following days – one month ahead of the specified timeframe.

In addition to the implementation of COMSOFT’s market-leading product AIDA- NG, the German experts’ CADAS data terminals were also deployed countrywide to airports Madang, Mount Hagen, Goroka, Nazdab and Tokua, which will now allow operators’ direct access to aeronautical information such as flight plans, NOTAMs, and weather information.

Captain Ted Pakii from PNGASL commented: “COMSOFT’s expertise in this field led us to trust in their abilities and, with the successful implementation of their solutions in the tight schedule, we are now able to provide advanced message handling to the region and in turn enhance aviation safety and assist the increasing demands of our service.”

COMSOFT’s AIDA-NG product has a unique ability to provide fully integrated and uniform message handling facilities as well as to transmit XML-based formats important for the future of air traffic management.

COMSOFT’s mature AIDA-NG solution and proven CADAS client-server technology allowed the smooth and timely execution of this project.

COMSOFT GmbH was established in 1979 and has been active in the ATC domain for over 20 years. Today the company’s expertise covers a vast proportion of the modern ATM industry, providing market-leading products, including innovative surveillance and communication solutions such as ADS-B and Multilateration sensors.
