M-NAV carries out successful site acceptance with COMSOFT’s AIDA-FPL

M-NAV, the Air Navigation Service Provider of Macedonia, has completed Site Acceptance with COMSOFT’s AIDA-FPL converter, accomplishing the final step to the two-way conversion of old to new flight plan formats.

Mr. Tagarinski, Director of M-NAV, said: “The user-friendly setup of COMSOFT’s FPL converter has enabled a smooth installation process. Allowing the continual data management of our flight plans is a priority, in order for us to maintain the efficient and safe regulation of our airspace. With the system now site accepted we are well on the way to having the ability to switch between old and new flight plan formats – a necessity for the future of our air operations.”

COMSOFT’s FPL2012 converter is based on the German expert’s proven and market-leading AIDA-NG solution, with the extended ability to enable the automatic and accurate conversion of flight plans, in full compliance with the conversion rules defined by ICAO. In addition the Flight Plan gateway enables ANSPs to save a significant sum of investment costs that would typically come with replacing or upgrading the entire flight plan systems.

The powerful and accurate converter provides a permanent and straightforward solution to enable the coexistence of both flight plan formats but with the minimum manual configuration and effort. The project also includes the provision of COMSOFT’s Network Management System (CNMS), for advanced and flexible hardware and software monitoring of ATC systems, which will allow M-NAV to specify the supervision logic and presentation requirements on a high notion level.

Consistent modernisations of Macedonia’s airports and air navigation systems have facilitated a 20 per cent increase in flights to the region and Skopje Area Control Centre is now handling approximately 150,000 flights per year.
