COMSOFT completes delivery of ARTAS for Finland
COMSOFT provides Finland with the solution for increased surveillance data accuracy

HELSINKI/Finland, December 2015

Air Navigation Services of Finland, FINAVIA, has successfully installed EUROCONTROL’s ATM Surveillance Tracker ARTAS to Helsinki Airport, increasing the surveillance accuracy of their airspace by fusing varying surveillance sources into one coherent air situation picture.

COMSOFT is the turnkey supplier of ARTAS, for which they have been EUROCONTROL's industrial partner since 2001. ARTAS is one of the most advanced surveillance data processing and distribution systems in the world and is typically used as cornerstone of national surveillance infrastructures. Developed by EUROCONTROL on behalf of their Member states, ARTAS applies the latest multi sensor tracking technology to deliver an outstanding level of accuracy and reliability using PSR, SSR, Mode-S and ADS-B/WAM surveillance sources.

The ability of ARTAS to act as an enabler for ADS-B and WAM makes it an important technology for the future of air traffic management and a perfect partner for Finland’s future developments, as a further COMSOFT project to provide WAM to the country nears completion. Additionally COMSOFT have delivered Radar Monitoring Display (RMD) and Enhanced Supervision Management System (ESMS) to allow the monitoring and supervision of all components to be harmonised.

With the installation of ARTAS now complete Finland are further prepared for upcoming surveillance infrastructure upgrades and will provide heightened surveillance capabilities while improving flight safety and service quality.
