Solution Provider and Consultant to the Air Traffic Management Sector

German Air Traffic Management supplier COMSOFT and IT specialist Techno Brain from Tanzania join their forces in South-East-African flagship AIM project.

The ATM specialist COMSOFT was selected as supplier of a technologically groundbreaking AIM system for the Malawi Department of Civil Aviation (MDCA). The system will include aeronautical databases and highly comfortable user terminals for flight plans, NOTAMs and meteorological information from COMSOFT's AIM product line CADAS. The national AIM system will provide services for the MDCA headquarter, NOTAM and MET Offices in Lilongwe as well as both international airports in Lilongwe and Blantyre.

CADAS provides the MDCA offices with efficient workflows and pilots will benefit from fully integrated NOTAM and OPMET briefing possibilities. As another highlight the MDCA will receive the electronic Aeronautical Information Publishing (eAIP) system GroupVerve in compliance with the latest relevant EUROCONTROL standards from COMSOFT's long-term partner Synclude.

As a further benefit of this project, Malawi will not only fulfil but even exceed the current requirements of the "ICAO Roadmap for the Transition from AIS to AIM" and become a technological leader in the region. All AIM components have, among others, open interfaces according to the latest AIXM 5.1 standard for the exchange of ATC information and can thus be easily extended by other applications and databases. In times of continuously increasing safety requirements in air traffic control, the seamless exchange between the aeronautical applications grows more and more important. Thus the new AIM system will definitely contribute to improving the flight safety in the South East African country.

In this project COMSOFT will cooperate closely with its regional partner Techno Brain, an IT and billing specialist based in Tanzania having subsidiaries in a variety of African countries.
