Based on a set of unique processing techniques applicable across various domains, Terma’s SCANTER Radar Systems provide reliable, customized and effective radar solutions to meet our customers’ demanding requirements all over the world.

Surface Movement Radar (SMR)
The SCANTER 2001i‘s reliability and performance makes it the most selected radar for Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) applications in the world to day. Scalable radar solutions to suit any need of Airports, from single channel systems to full Dual Redundant Frequency Diversity systems are available.

Our high-quality radar systems including High Gain slotted waveguide 21ft Circularly Polarized antenna ensure excellent weather penetration and high resolution. Terma Radar Systems’ technical support covers the full range of the SMR life from site survey, installation, setting-to-work, lifecycle logistics and service agreements including health check overhauls etc.

Today, more than 140 SCANTER SMR systems are in operation worldwide.

Introducing SCANTER 5000 Series Solid State Radar for SMR
With SCANTER 5502 and SCANTER 5602, Terma is introducing a new Solid State SMR.
Based on inherited technology from the previous successful SCANTER radars, new Solid State technology has extended the SCANTER radar portfolio.

The SCANTER 5000 series is an X-band, 2D, pulse compression radar, based on Solid State transmitter technology with digital software defined functionality and is designed to provide airport ground surveillance integrated as the primary sensor in an airport A-SMGCS.

The outstanding capabilities of the SCANTER 5000 Series ensure reliable detection of very small targets and produce an overall clear, crisp, high-resolution radar image of the coverage area, day and night and in all weather conditions.

Frequency Diversity functionality further enhances the Probability of Detection (PD), specifically for small targets in severe ground clutter conditions.

Solid State Radar
The use of Solid State makes it possible to do free and flexible frequency selection over the full band (9.0—9.5 GHz). Superior Frequency Diversity performances with possibility of up to 16 sub-bands.

Low Life Cycle Cost (LCC)
The design and manufacturing processes selected by Terma ensure high reliability and LCC. The technology selected, the robust mechanical design and efficient temperature management ensure long lifetime of the power amplifier and other components.
