Time Systems & Clocks, Time Reference

About a year ago we presented a new supportive tool to you – our MOBATIME WIKI. This tool provides additional information and guidance to everyone who works with MOBATIME products and time systems. On this platform you have the chance to ask questions or provide additional information which you think might be useful for others working with MOBATIME products.
We already have 153 registered users. So far, 67 entries have been published. Below you find an interesting example of a recently published issue and helpful information for all newcomers.

MOBATIME – Swiss Time Systems is working on a new Network Timeserver. The NTS (Network Timeserver) will replace our LTS timeserver. See below for more information or visit directly our product site.

Kind regards,
Your MOBATIME-Team

MOBATIME WIKI – example

of an asked question

Issue:
Line length calculation for MOBALine timecode

Question:
How to calculate the line length of a MOBALine line, according to the number of clocks and the cross section of the cable?

Solution:
Please have a look at the MOBALine calculation sheet.

  • Select the master clock
  • Select the type of slave clocks
==> max. number of clocks are now calculated in the table
  • If you know the number of clocks to connect, and the total line length, you can select the cross section of the cable on the top.

Recommendation for cable:

  • Use twisted pair cable.
  • Signal cable or telephone cables are suitable for MOBALine.
  • Use rather two or more pairs of wires in parallel, then wires with very large cross section. Terminal of MOBALine clocks are limited in size.
  • Use junction points in cable ducts or cabinets, rather than connecting clocks in daisy chain (with two cables to the clock).
  • Usually unshielded cable is suitable. Only in environment with high electromagnetic or – static fields shielded cables are recommended.

MOBATIME WIKI – useful instructions

In order to have a good start, we recommend that you visit our website first and read our short instructions regarding:

  • How to set up your personal WIKI account
  • How to add a new issue
With those instructions, it will be easy to set up your personal account on www.mobatime-wiki.com and start your own issue.

Network Timeserver NTS

The NTS can synchronize NTP slave clocks using multicast or unicast with NTP and time zone tables.

As master clock it synchronizes other sub-master clocks or devices with DCF. Optionally, also synchronization pulses can be generated.
The NTS can send alerts as e-mails as well as SNMP traps. SNMP can be used for configuration and check of system state of the NTS.

Simple and convenient operation, configuration, programming, administration and monitoring via LAN using MOBA-NMS software.
Your advantages:

  • Easy installation
  • Small dimension
  • Powerful NTP server for small networks
  • Low price
