For the duration of July 2015, an exclusive pop-up bar promoting Diageo’s ultra-premium Ron Zacapa aged rum was a welcome feature in the Heinemann Duty Free Store at Vienna International Airport.

Produced at high altitude from virgin sugar cane honey, the branding encapsulated the brand strapline of ‘Above and Beyond’, this elegant square space was crafted by leading travel retail design specialists, Concourse Display Management (CDM), and was part of a series of high-end liquor promotions at Vienna Airport.

Dressed in shades of gold, black and espresso and furnished with customised brushed gold satin and steel stools, the bar invited passengers to indulge their senses with the flavours and aromas of the slow-aged 23 Year-Old and luxurious XO expressions. While samples glasses were poured by the knowledgeable brand ambassador behind the fully-equipped bar, aromas of dried fruits and cocoa beans were also available for sampling under eye-catching glass cloches, presenting some of the more prevalent notes found in the prestigious Guatemalan rum. Low-level shelving provided travellers with easy access to the product range and pricing information.

This partnership between retailer, airport, and brand is indicative of the type of sophisticated activations scheduled throughout summer 2015, designed to appeal to the elevated passenger demographic that Vienna International continues to attractive, especially after its significant refurbishment to three quarters of airport’s duty-free environment.
